Peer Review Process
Peer review is fundamental to ensuring the quality, credibility, and integrity of scholarly publishing. At Veridion Press, all submissions are evaluated through a structured, transparent, and ethical peer-review process appropriate to the publication format and academic discipline.
Our peer-review framework is designed to support fair editorial decision-making, constructive scholarly feedback, and the responsible dissemination of research.
Overview of the Peer Review Process
The peer-review process at Veridion Press consists of the following key stages:
- Submission of manuscript
- Initial editorial assessment
- Assignment to peer reviewers
- Peer review and evaluation
- Editorial decision
- Revision and resubmission (if required)
- Final acceptance and publication
Each stage is conducted in accordance with established academic and ethical standards.
Stage 1: Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the designated submission system or method specified by the relevant journal, book series, or conference proceedings.
At submission, authors are required to provide:
- Complete manuscript files
- Author details and affiliations
- Abstract and keywords
- Ethical declarations and disclosures (where applicable)
Stage 2: Initial Editorial Assessment
Upon submission, manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editor or editorial team to assess:
- Alignment with the scope of the publication
- Compliance with submission and formatting requirements
- Originality and scholarly relevance
- Ethical considerations, including plagiarism and conflicts of interest
Manuscripts that do not meet basic requirements may be returned to authors for revision or declined prior to peer review.
Stage 3: Assignment to Peer Reviewers
Manuscripts passing initial assessment are assigned to independent peer reviewers with relevant subject expertise.
Reviewers are selected based on:
- Academic qualifications and research experience
- Subject-area knowledge relevant to the manuscript
- Absence of conflicts of interest
All reviewers are required to treat submitted manuscripts as confidential documents.
Stage 4: Peer Review and Evaluation
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript according to established academic criteria, which may include:
- Originality and significance of the research
- Methodological rigor and validity
- Quality of analysis and interpretation
- Clarity of presentation and structure
- Ethical compliance and appropriate use of references
Reviewers provide constructive comments intended to support both editorial decision-making and author improvement.
Stage 5: Editorial Decision
Based on reviewer reports and editorial evaluation, one of the following decisions may be issued:
- Accept
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject
Authors receive a formal decision letter that includes anonymized reviewer comments and editorial guidance.
Stage 6: Revision and Resubmission
When revisions are requested:
- Authors are expected to respond systematically to reviewer and editor comments
- A revised manuscript and response-to-reviewers document should be submitted within the specified timeframe
- Revised submissions may be reassessed by the editor or returned to reviewers for further evaluation
Multiple rounds of review may occur where necessary to ensure academic quality.
Stage 7: Final Acceptance and Publication
Once a manuscript satisfies all scholarly, ethical, and editorial requirements:
- The editor issues a final acceptance decision
- The manuscript enters production, including copyediting and formatting
- Authors may be asked to review proofs prior to publication
The work is then published in its final form and becomes part of the scholarly record.
Peer Review Models
Depending on the publication and discipline, Veridion Press may use one of the following peer-review models:
- Single-blind peer review
- Double-blind peer review
- Open peer review (where applicable and clearly stated)
The applicable review model is clearly indicated for each publication.
Confidentiality and Integrity
All participants in the peer-review process are expected to uphold strict confidentiality. Manuscripts under review must not be shared, disclosed, or used for personal advantage prior to publication.
Ethical Standards in Peer Review
Veridion Press follows internationally recognized best practices in peer review, informed by guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Editors, reviewers, and authors are expected to adhere to principles of fairness, impartiality, transparency, and professional conduct.
Appeals and Complaints
